It will be tough to top last year’s incredible season, but the Panther Creek’s men’s and women’s basketball teams plan on coming out strong this year.
This year, the men’s basketball team new coach is Shawan Robinson, and the team is looking forward to fresh ideas to mix with last year’s winning strategies that will lead the team to the “Elite 8” or state quarterfinals. Many players from the men’s junior varsity team will be moving up to varsity this year, but some strong returning athletes like junior Juan Munoz and senior Alex Zietlow will be the foundation of the line up.
The women’s team this season is light on the bench, but they work very well together and “have great camaraderie,” as Coach Moore stated. Even though this group is smaller in the amount of players and in height, they are hoping that they will have a strong showing in the women’s SWAC conference. Last year was the first time Panther Creek’s women basketball team made the playoffs, and they plan on working just as hard to replicate those results.
