Panther Creek will travel just down the road this Friday to face Green Hope in the Fight for 55 football game. Fight for 55 is a competition between Panther Creek and Green Hope to see which school wins more head to head varsity matchups.

Panther Creek(4-3) comes off a game vs Athens in which the offense put up 69 points and looked very productive with QB Dom Samson completing 54% of his passes and throwing 6 TD’s. Although Diamante Taylor lead with 176 receiving yards, Justin Smalls looked to be Samson’s favorite target of the night with: 6 catches, 130 yards and 3 TD’s(Lead Team). Panther Creek looks to carry their offensive success into the game this Friday vs Green Hope.

Quarterback Tucker Burkinshaw and the rest of Green Hope’s offense are coming off three of their highest scoring games of the season. Panther Creeks young defense, led by ballhawk J Johnson (5 int.) and defensive end Brandon Bennett (5 sacks). The PC defense is also reliant on D1 recruit and captain Isaiah Laster, who has 1int. and 2 forced fumbles despite missing two games with a knee injury.

Panther Creek still has an optimistic view on the rest of the season despite three early losses. The Catamounts three losses have come from Middle Creek, Scotland County, and Wake Forest. All three teams are ranked in the top five in J. Mike Blake’s most recent 4A state wide rankings.

We played GH three times last year ending with a victory over the Falcons in the second round of the playoffs(Final: 28-7). The two schools have an undisputed rivalry and the new Fight for 55 competition will only add fuel to the fire.
