Panther Creek Basketball Ready for the Season

Panther Creek men’s basketball team kicked off their season by knocking off Heritage, Jordan, and Southeast Raleigh. The Catamounts, finishing in 3rd last year in the 4A standings, plan to up their game even further this season. Starting with 4 straight wins, and on a streak of 6, the varsity team has started an explosive season.

“We were able to bring the energy and finish the game,” said Caleb Surgers after winning their first game against Southeast Raleigh by almost 20 points.

The Creek kept up their incredible play against Apex High, during which Chris Uwayo, put 39 points up against the Cougars, putting on a legendary performance. His comment, “I’m excited we went to states last year, so we want to go back and win it.”

The women’s team had a positive start to their season as well. The girl’s varsity team knocked out Northwood with great combinations and team plays. According to Madisyn Jordan, “The first game went very well, and everyone got some great looks.”

Both the men’s and women’s teams have started phenomenally, and they plan to further their reign in the 4A East Conference. They look forward to States at the end of the year. Best of luck to our Panther Creek Catamounts!
