In 1636, Harvard College became the first institution of higher education in the New World. In the 388 years since then, the United States has welcomed 3,736 colleges and universities to its nation. Most of these institutions require an accepted application to attend.
Across the world, students graduating high school begin their application process around August of their graduating year. Although the application process starts at the beginning of the graduating year, students work their entire lives to make themselves appear as strong applicants.
Many students in North Carolina will stay in-state as they want to stay close to home and cut tuition costs. Some of the most popular in-state schools in North Carolina are UNC-Chapel Hill, N.C. State, UNC-Charlotte, Appalachian State, Elon, East Carolina, and UNC-Wilmington. An article from the NC Department of Education showed that 78.3% of the North Carolinians who were a part of the high school class of 2020 went on to attend an in-state post-secondary school. We asked Victoria Cruz and Toby Alain, seniors at Panther Creek, what their dream schools were and where they applied. Both said their dream school was N.C. State, but they also applied to various in-state schools.
Students who applied with early action are starting to receive decisions this month. For those who applied regularly, their results will be released towards the middle of the second semester.
As our students here at Panther Creek continue to prepare for their futures, we at PCNN would like to wish you the best of luck and great success wherever you end up.
