“Let me drive the boat” “Go crazy, Go stupid” these are probably terms you’ve heard before, but what are they? These terms are the new popular memes. A meme is an element of culture that is amusing enough to be passed from one person to another. The ‘meme’ can be in a form of a text, video piece, and or an image. When these memes are spread via internet they rapidly become popular. Even though there can be many definitions of the term ‘meme’ this source explains it well. Some Panther creek students who enjoy their memes just as the next person share some of their favorite popular memes. Kunal also known as KJ an 11th grader has stated that one of his favorite meme is a video that features the rapper Kodak Black saying ‘let me drive the boat’ and crashing shortly after. He says this is his favorite meme because when he first saw it was really amusing, and the recreations of the video were even more funny. Nick Moore an 11th grader stated that his favorite meme is a video of a man running up to the camera saying “let me tell you something’. He explains that he enjoys this meme because it’s ‘funny’ and ‘catchy’. Last but not least is Udit Patel an 11th grader who says his favorite meme is a video clip from a YouTube featuring animated babies running up the stairs yelling “Go Crazy, ahaha Go stupid ahaha”. Udit explains that this is his favorite meme because ‘it’s funny and represents my personality” Even though these memes might seem odd and extremely strange, they still strike people as amusing and humors. These memes have not only brought people a new outlet to procrastinate, but also a reason to laugh.
