Is Popeye’s better than Chick Fil A?

For decades, people have celebrated the delicious taste of Chick-Fil-A’s classic chicken sandwich. However, Popeye’s recently released their own chicken sandwich, launching the debate of the chicken sandwich war.

In August, Popeye’s announced their release of the chicken sandwich as a permanent addition to their menu. Within two weeks of the release, Popeye’s sold out. According to USATODAY, “Popeye’s was out of sandwiches for almost two whole months, but announced its return for National Sandwich Day”.

More recently, the sandwich war has been taken to social media as a twitter feud has begun between Chick-Fil-A and Popeye’s. Chick-Fil-A’s motto is “The home of the Original Chicken Sandwich”. Popeye’s tweeted, “I’m gonna tell my kids this is the Original Chicken Sandwich” with a picture of their new sandwich located below the tweet.

People have reason to believe the tweet is throwing shade towards Chick-Fil-A. However, Popeye’s defended its name by alerting people that, “The Chicken Sandwich was the biggest product launch in the history of our brand and we thought it would be fun to connect with our fans by jumping on the pop-culture trend we’re seeing on social media that explains today’s events to future generations”. 

So what do kids at Panther Creek High School think about it?

Well, the war has become a huge topic of debate at Panther Creek High School. With the nearest Chick-Fil-A being only one mile away from the school, it has been a popular area for off campus lunch. Since there isn’t a Popeye’s near the school, students have visited the restaurant on their own time. t”. However, a senior at Panther Creek, Jordan Payne said, “Chick-Fil-A has nothing on Popeye’s”. At Panther Creek, you’ll find a lot of mixed reviews about whether or not the sandwich lives up to the hype.
