Saturday, May 15, Panther Creek High School hosted Prom at an Embassy Suites in Cary.  It was a new experience for the students attending as Panther Creek has not held its Prom off of the school’s campus since 2010.  But even with the new location, Panther Creek students were thoroughly satisfied with how their night “under the stars” turned out.

“I had an amazing time at Prom with all my friends,” senior Emily Getzen said.  “I think the location was definitely better this year but both experiences were great.”

And while the disc jockey played the songs consistent with pop culture, and the amount of limos and car services were about the same as in years past, the change in location seemed to make this year so special.

Do you think the location of Prom improved your overall experience?

“I had fun and I really liked that it was off campus,” senior Julia Molee said.  “I think it made the whole experience better because it didn’t feel as much like the school did it; it felt like more of a formal event.”

Within thirty minutes of the doors opening, the photo booth line was long and the dance floor was packed. And while that can partially be influenced by the location and the other logistics of Prom, it ultimately is a tribute to the school’s students.

“Prom went about as well as I hoped for it to go,” senior Kyle Nay.  “I enjoyed it a lot.”

Senior Sean Holden shared that Prom was fun this year for many reasons, but it basically all came down to the fact that it was the setting for memories he would have for the rest of his life.

“I just enjoyed the night,” Holden shared.  “[The distribution of] the souvenirs reminded me that the event was special because the night itself was great, and the time you had there is something you’d remember for the rest of your life.”
