This past season has been a season of success for the Panther Creek women’s soccer team. This success is continuing as the team is now moving on to the semi finals. The catamounts are heading to the regional championship after beating Fuquay-Varina high school in the fourth round. The game ended with a score of 2 to 1 after Justine James scored a game winning goal in double overtime.
There are many things motivating the catamounts in going all the way and winning the state championship. For example, continuing their undefeated streak and pulling off the perfect season. Or maybe, for the seniors trying to end their high school soccer career in the greatest way possible before heading to college. But there is one thing that is very motivational for the team. Last year the women’s soccer team made it all the way to the state championship which was played at NC State University against Hough High School. The game was decided by a heartbreaking goal scored against the catamounts in overtime. This game has been an inspiration for the team as they head in to the state championship..
There are high expectations for the team and they hope to fulfill them. The catamounts will play Hoggart in the regional championship on May 26. With a victory the catamounts will have a chance to come home with a championship trophy.
