Panther Creek’s Thespian Society 2018 spring musical is fast approaching, “Once Upon a Mattress” written by Jay Thompson Marshall Barer, is a spinoff of the classic “princess and the pea.” It follows the story of Prince Dauntless (Played by CJ Craig) who is searching for a princess who will have the approval of both himself and his mother, Queen Aggravain (Played by Kiki Falkanger). Just when he is about to give up hope, he meets and falls for Princess Winnifred (played by Gabriella Abla) who must pass a series of tests in order to gain the queen’s approval and wed the prince.
The show features the work of 55 actors, including main characters and ensemble roles such as knights and ladies, and the PCHS band and choir and 14 technicians. Stage Manager Rachel Donnan is excited for the show, saying “ it’s really nice seeing everything grow from our first reading when none of us were really getting the context and were missing the lines to where we are now where everything is really coming together, all the songs are really good and there is a lot of good chemistry between everyone on stage.”
To see the hard work of the PCHS theatre department, choir and band, the show opens April 19th, which is also student rush night. Students will be able to purchase tickets for $6, otherwise, all performances are in the PCHS auditorium at 7:00PM, tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door, April 19th, 20th and 21st.
