Especially among high school students, rap seems to be the most popular type of music. PCNN set out to look into the opinions of Panther Creek students on rap. Out of the eight students pulled for interviews, only one of them wasn’t a fan of rap.

To get a sense of the biggest names of rap, we asked people who was the most famous rapper of this year. About 42% of students said Eminem was the #1 artist. Other mentions included Drake, 21 Savage, Post Malone, Lil Uzi Vert, and Kendrick Lamar. Interestingly, only 4 of these artists are featured in the Top Ten: Best Rappers of 2017.

The same names came up when students were asked for their personal favorite artist, and favorite song. Some of the most popular songs listed were Dark Queen by Lil Uzi Vert, Gucci Gang by Lil Pump, Not Afraid by Eminem, and The Next Episode by Dr. Dre. Very surprisingly, only Gucci Gang is featured on the Billboard list of Top Rap Songs.

Despite only being mentioned once, if at all, the richest rappers of 2017 are listed as follows, in order of wealth: Diddy, Jay Z, Dr. Dre, Birdman, and lastly, Drake. Net worth is calculated by subtracting the worth of all liabilities from the worth of all assets, and the range of the top five wealthiest rappers is around $730 million.

The last question of the interview, asked who the “rap god” was, to which every student responded with Eminem.
