Fall sports, the kickoff to everyone’s school year, are finally coming to an end. Panther Creek has had a great fall sports season in volleyball, men’s soccer, varsity football, and especially from our women’s tennis team.

This year in volleyball, the girls record was seven wins and ten losses overall with five wins and nine losses coming from in the conference. With shutout wins against Middle Creek, Green Hope, Cary, Rolesville, and Jordan, the team was a few close matches away from third place in the conference. But with a final record of 7-10, the girls volleyball team landed themselves fifth place in the conference; three places higher than last year.

Our men’s soccer team this year made it into the first round of the playoffs with a record of eight wins, eleven losses, and two ties. With a couple of blowout wins and very close losses, the men’s varsity soccer team was a few wins away from competing for a top three finish. The team did, however, finish in fifth place sending them into the playoffs once again, signifying a great year.

Our varsity football team has had a major turnaround from last years’ record of 1-10 to an outstanding record of 8-2 with one game left before state playoffs. The team powered behind a strong offensive attack and even stronger defensive one has put them one game behind first place. With strong outings against Leesville Road and a variety of other teams, the varsity football team is set up to have a good seed in the playoffs with the hopes of bringing home a state title.

Finally, this year our women’s tennis team has had an unbelievable regular season record of seventeen wins and one loss, giving them first place in the conference and a great seed in the state playoffs. During the playoffs, the team kept the almost-perfect season going by finishing the season with a twenty-one win and one loss record while claiming Panther Creek’s first state championship in our school’s history.

As a school we are proud of every team from fall sports as they all improved their records and reestablished the school’s reputation of being one of the top high schools in the conference. With all of the excitement and fun that the fall sports brought to Panther Creek, we can only imagine what will come from our winter and spring sports.
