Women’s Tennis Tribute
What do you think it takes to win a state championship? Panther Creek has had its fair share of success in its athletic programs, as they have been home to several division-one college athletes and consistently fill up the trophy case each year. But in all of this success, the Catamounts have only won two team state championships, both of which have come from the women’s tennis team in two consecutive years.
They had the individual talent; doubles partners, juniors Jordan Strickland and Sammi Smith, earned their third doubles state championship in the three years they have been on the team. They have the leadership and an experienced coach, Mr. Blalock. “He’s always encouraging ,” junior Aishani Tingare shared about her coach. “He supports us in everything we do.” The camaraderie amongst the players gave the team the confidence that they could overcome any adversity they encounter.
As the fall sports season draws to a close, and another banner in Panther Creek’s gym is put up, the entire Panther Creek athletics program offers its thanks to the women’s tennis team, as they had what it took to keep a winning tradition. And in order to honor the success of the team, PCNN created a video filled with interviews to take a deeper look into what makes this team play so well together.
