On Wednesday March 18th, Panther Creek held its very first “Laura Yost” Women’s Soccer Game. Many understand the terrible events that happened to the Yost family, and this was a great event that the school put together to show the Yost family our support.

Laura was on the Panther Creek Women’s Soccer team and loved the game. Her teammates wanted to make sure to play in her name as they battle against their rival Cary High. Special Shirts were made for her with a dog design biting into a soccer ball, this was described as her two favorite things. Seniors Justine James and Rachael Everheart wanted to make sure the whole team went all out and to dedicate everything to her in this big game.  The team is wearing number 8 on there sleeves to show constant support this year and make sure to play 100% at all times for her.

Bri Velasquez lead the attack with two goals, Justine James, seinor Emma Socha, and sophomore Lindsey Haney also scored to lead Panther Creek over Cary for a 5-1 Victory. There was a pretty good crowd in support for the team and the Yost Family. This was also significantly PC Women’s Soccer’s first home game of the year. The success of the team last year may have been forgotten, so the first home game was a way to remind everyone of how good they are. With six Division-1 Athletes on the team and a 4-0 victory, it’s safe to say that it will be another great year for PC Women’s Soccer. They’re not just playing for redemption from last year’s loss in the State Championship, but also for Laura Yost.
