“The Fight for 55”. A phrase commonly known by the students of Green Hope and Panther Creek High Schools. It is the competition between the sports teams at Panther Creek and Green Hope to see which school wins the most sporting events against one another. The fight for 55 games are some of the most anticipated games not only by the players but by the students and the fans. When Green Hope meets Panther Creek in the Playoffs the hype is even more intensified.

In the second round of the men’s NCHSAA Basketball Playoffs the Green Hope Falcons faced the Panther Creek Catamounts in another Fight for 55 game. After facing each other in the regular season, the Catamounts went 1-1 against the Falcons, so it was expected to be a tight game.

The first half was tight as Green Hope pulled away with the lead 34-31. PJ Fenton was a big factor for Green Hope as he hit a and 1 in the 3rd quarter to hype up the crowd and put the Falcons up by 10. Going into the 4th Green Hope led by 15, but the Panther Creek’s Justin McCoy and Michael Bramwell came up clutch. This comeback came a little too late and GH pulled away with the win as they advanced to the 3rd round of playoffs
