Apex Outfitters offers a large variety of products that pleases anyone despite their interests.

There are many skateboarders here at Panther Creek, in addition to the Apex/Cary area. However, the closest skate shop that offers a wide variety of skateboards, wheels, and skate paraphernalia has been Vertical Urge in Raleigh for quite some time. Over the last couple of months, there has been some talk about a new skate shop in Apex, rising quickly in popularity.  This not only gives Panther Creek based skaters a measure of convenience, but it allows them to get to know fellow North Carolina-based skater, Kyle Denis, who owns the store.

Kyle and Megan Denis bought Tobacco Road Outdoors from the previous owner in late 2012 because, “he was already carrying good brands, like Patagonia and The North Face,” and he figured it could take off in a small community.  “I want to offer the community a different environment to shop in…it’s not a big box environment, you walk in and you’ll know me, you’ll know my wife, and we’re gonna try and help people get what they want,” he added.  The shop was re-branded as “Apex Outfitter and Board Co.”

Since the re-branding, the shop has begun carrying a new category of products: skateboards and long-boards.  Word of a new skate shop spread fast throughout the skateboarding community of Apex, especially after they sponsored several events including local skate contests where anybody from beginner to expert can sharpen their skills.

Even if you don’t skateboard, you can also get your heartbeat going with some of the location’s other offerings, including a running club, free yoga classes, or stand-up paddle board lessons. So the next time you want to get outside, skip the long trip to Asheville and head over to Apex to get your fix.
