Seniors by the Numbers

PCNN decided to poll students from the Panther Creek senior class of 2015 about their post-high school aspirations. This poll was done online and distributed through social media and word-of-mouth. It took place between January 22nd and February 1st and received 123 anonymous responses (this is approximately a fifth of the senior class size). We asked about GPA, SAT/ACT scores, fields of interest, committed colleges/universities, and gender, among other things. We received a wide variety of responses and feel that they can be used to predict trends of the class as a whole. Options with less than three responses were not included for the following charts: Field by GPA, University by GPA, and University by Gender. Also note that gender charts display ratios relative to each gender.

70% of Panther Creek Students scored a 25 or above on their ACT.

The highest GPA of the schools that were polled, a 4.7, was for those planning to attend Duke University.

93% of Panther Creek seniors surveyed plan on attending a college/university.

Approximately 44% of seniors surveyed plan to get a masters degree.

17/26 students that said they intend to go to NC State University are females.

10% of seniors have not taken the SAT.

Out of 123 students, 3 want to go into the military after high school.

93% of students that chose “engineering” as their field of choice were male.

None of the males polled are going to UNC Greensboro.

1.7% of the students polled want to get an Associates degree.

There were 0 females interested in working in the technology field, and 0 males interested in working in the design field.
