Pizza is something most of us eat frequently, not thinking much of as we devour it. However, pizza has become such a massively popular staple food of American society that it has become a forty billion dollar industry. All over the nation, there are countless restaurants, kitchens, and stores that have a variety of different pizzas, styles, and qualities for us to choose from.

This diversity is evident even when looking at the local area of Cary, Apex, and Morrisville. There are dozens of pizza restaurants ranging from independently owned to international chains that all have their own individual qualities to enjoy. With all of these pizza places to eat, we are lucky, each has it’s own unique recipe taken from New York, Chicago, California, or elsewhere, bringing a delicious array of pizza to our local area that most other towns do not have.

The downside to this diversity is that most people do not have the knowledge of certain places even existing, let alone any opinions on them, so PCNN reporters decided it would be a good idea to poll the student body about what their favorite pizza place is, and what their favorite topping is. After we finished the polling, PCNN then decided to go out and taste test the top five places students decided was their favorite, and then rate and do a quick review of it.

We found out that from the people we randomly selected their overall favorite pizza place was Papa John’s, followed by the Pizza Dude, Blaze Pizza, New York Pizza, and Amante. Behind those top five were many individual responses that included some very good pizza places, such as Rosati’s. The most popular topping among the students PCNN polled was cheese, followed by pepperoni.

Papa John’s was good for a national chain, it had thick dough/crust and was plentiful with its sauce. I got the small pepperoni pizza and would rate it at a 5/10 because it wasn't very impressive overall and I felt gross/groggy afterwards.
