In 2006, Mr. Nelson hired a teacher to teach a newspaper class at Panther Creek. After three weeks, she resigned and the newspaper class was left without a teacher. Mr. Hoey wanted to teach video production, but there was no class for this at Panther Creek. Together, Mr. Nelson and Mr. Hoey decided that they would create a class that produced an online newspaper.  Thus, in the fall of 2007, PCNN was born. A class in which Mr. Hoey taught students to create, edit, and publish news stories that commonly included videos.

Since the start of PCNN, there has been a few traditions. First off, PCNN is a student run organization, so we have always had a student editor and chief.  The editor and chief is the final person to sign off on each story we produce. Another tradition we have is creating a senior tribute video/slideshow.  The tribute is a way to commemorate senior’s last year of high school and look back at all the good times they have had.

JT Wise and Andre Payne started the tradition of having a show on PCNN that incorporates an entertainment side to the news we produce. JT and Andre started producing the JT and Andre show in the 2011-2012 school year. They continued their show through the 2012-2013 school year, as well as the 2013-2014 school year. In the 2014-2015 school year Brendan Barrett and Alex Robertson took over the show after JT and Andre graduated, thence came the Brendan and Alex Show.  For the 2015-2016 school year Austin Browne and Ryan Bell took over and created the Austin and Ryan show. They are now in their second season of the show for the 2016-2017 school year.
