The Future of Catamount Football

The consensus has arrived: the Panther Creek football team could use some improvement. With a record of 0-7 so far, there is a clear struggle for the Catamounts to gain momentum. However, a few of the determined football players that PCNN had the chance to interview showed hope for the future of their season. Not only did they express hope for their season, but they displayed great confidence in their score predictions for the last game of the season against Green hope, who has the best record in the Tri-6. Nevertheless, the Catamount fan base portrayed opposite opinions, and showed timid thoughts on how the season would play out.

Weston Plunket, an outside linebacker in the 11th grade, had very a very positive mindset about their season, and showed leader characteristics. When asked about playoff chances, he stated, “You know, we are still undefeated in our conference so far, so we could go to the playoffs.” Granted, they hadn’t played any conference games at that point. Next on the mic was Brandon Holmes, a 12th grade wide receiver, who had similar opinions on the team’s playoff chances: “we actually still do have a possibility of making the playoffs, so we’ll see if we can do that.”

On the other hand, the fans who attend the games weren’t too elated about the performance of the football team this year. Anna Okiishi, current PCHS cheerleader, showed positive attitudes towards the “atmosphere” of the games, but answered with a stern “No” when asked about the cat’s chance at making the playoffs this year. Not only did she have a negative attitude towards the team’s playoff chances, but also when asked to describe the team in one word her response was, “terrible.”

Ultimately, the end of the season should be rather interesting. No matter what, our players will play their hearts out under the Friday night lights for each of the games still to come, and that’s all we can ask for. Don’t forget, make sure to look out for Faran Khan as he will, hopefully, make a return to the team for the upcoming games.
