Flu Awareness

Influenza also known as the Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the flu viruses. It can cause mild severe illness and in certain cases could lead to death. Some symptoms are sore throat, fever, headache, muscle aches and soreness, congestion, and cough. These symptoms are more severe than a cold. You could also get the Swine flu which is associated with vomiting and diarrhea.

The flu virus can cause overwhelming inflammation to a person’s lungs causing the person to die. When you have the flu your body is very vulnerable and can get other infections causing them to get sicker. On average 200,000 Americans are hospitalized because of this illness which is 5%-20% of the U.S. population. 3,000 to 49,000 people die from flu related causes.

The best way to avoid getting sick is always washing your hands and cover your mouth. Some ways to prevent the flu is getting a flu shot, get rest, stay away from sick people, keep house of face. If you get the flu you shouldn’t be scared just make sure you take care of yourself and avoid giving it to other people.
