How is the Panther Creek swim team doing so far this season and how will they finish it out?
Panther Creek is home to many winning sports teams and the games have endless fun.

Head coach, Courtney Like-Matthews has done an amazing job coaching this season and also spends her time as a forensics and chemistry teacher at Panther Creek.
When asked, “what are your predictions for this years swim season?”, junior Liv Stark said, “I think we’ve had a pretty good season so far so we should expect more to come”. Junior, Madie Banks says, “I believe that we’re gonna have a very successful season and we’re going to finish strong”.
Senior Christopher Barker says that his personal goal is “to make states in every single event and relay I’m in”.
Peter Edin is Panther Creek’s only diver and has placed first in every meet so far. He said, “the most rewarding moment during my school career is being recognized by the rest of my team”.
The catamounts had a good start in the beginning of their season on the night of November 26th where they competed against Leesville, Sanderson and rivals Green Hope. The boys finished in second place with 152 points and the girls third with 105 points.
The season started getting better in the next meet against Corinth Holders, Knightdale and Heritage on December 3rd. The cats traveled out to Smithfield and both the boys and girls took home a first place finish with girls winning by only one point!
On December 17th, PC took on Apex Friendship, Middle Creek and Cary High School. The boys had another 1st place win with 198 points and the girls took home 3rd with 114 points. A school record was broken in the men’s 200 free relay by 4.37 seconds. The original time was 1:32.55 and the boys set a new time of 1:28.18. The team consisted of Christopher Ghim, Davin Tjandra, Coby Ockert and Jed Tan.
The catamounts recently competed on January 8th at the Triangle Aquatic Center against Athens Drive, Garner and new rivals, Green Level. Both the boys and girls took home a first place finish with 185 points for the girls and 190 points for the guys.
The Panther Creek swim team currently has five committed swimmers.
Christopher Barker to Rollins College, Christopher Ghim to Binghamton University, Will Soleo to Drexel University, Coby Ockert to Towson University and Vivian Guo to Swarthmore College.
The catamounts expect to compete in the conference championship on Saturday, January 25th at the Triangle Aquatic Center at 6:15pm.
