The Super Bowl is the annual competition that ends each NFL season. It is a great way for loved ones to connect and spend time together. According to conducted polls, 96.6% of Panther Creek students said they watch the super bowl with their family and friends. The majority of students revealed that their favorite NFL team was the New England Patriots, and closely behind are the Green Bay Packers.

This year, we have the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs competing against each other. The Chiefs competed in the first-ever super bowl, and the Eagles won Super Bowl LII. Originally, the Super Bowl was called the AFL-NFL World Championship Game and did not have as much significance. Later, the owner of the Chiefs, Lamar Hunt, proposed the idea of using the term “Super Bowl” instead of the latter.

58.6% of responses to a poll said they believe the Eagles will win, whereas only 41.4% said they think the Chiefs will take the trophy home. Some students’ opinions differ. One student said, “I think the eagles… have shown lots of improvement.” On the other hand, another student thinks the Chiefs are going to win “because of their team chemistry and recent experience in the Super Bowls.”

In Jani’s interview, the student discussed what they felt were the most crucial attributes of a team that can help contribute to winning the Super Bowl, “Good communication on the field, trusting each other’s talent, and the ability to listen to the coach and not just do whatever you want.“

The first Super Bowl was on January 15, 1967, and there have been 56 games played, leading us into the 57th Super Bowl. During the first Super Bowl, ticket prices were very low, starting at $12, whereas current prices are $4,886 for each ticket and $23,748 for the club-level premium section. The first game was the only Super Bowl that has not sold all of the tickets. The first Super Bowl had about 16,000 spectators, where they approximated that over 70,000 fans were watching last year’s competition.

Super Bowl parties have become a mainstream event in America, and the appeal extends to even those with zero interest in the sport of football for several reasons. The food and the social aspect are the main draws for many. The commercials, however, have taken on a life of their own. Countless people enjoy the Super Bowl not only for the football but for the hilarious commercials, snacks, and of course, the famous halftime show. The artists picked for the halftime show are always a big shocker and are the main attraction for non-football fans. When controversial artists are picked, it usually leads to online discourse, which is an attraction for many.

PCNN wishes you a great Super Bowl Sunday. No matter which team you support (or if you are only there for the halftime show). We hope you enjoy yourself on this important day in NFL history.
