The recording academy recently held the 59th annual Grammy awards to recognize achievements in the music industry within the past year The 2018 Grammy awards had a significant decrease in viewership this year. According to CNN, viewership slipped about 20%, going from 26.1 million people in 2017, to 19.8 million people in 2018.

When asked about their thoughts on the 2018 awards ceremony, many Panther Creek students admitted that they elected to not tune in, however students heard some about the results, “I heard that eminem was not nominated for a grammy,” said student Thomas Flowers.

Fabian, who tuned into the awards said that he was, “ pretty happy” with the results overall. Some stated that they felt rap artist Cardi B deserved to win a grammy after being nominated for both best rap song and best rap performance for her song “Bodak Yellow” student Alex Mckinley said, “Cardi B may have been robbed.” Logan Gron agreed with him saying, “Cardi B is Cardi B, can’t do anything about that.”
